Dr. Aishath Shiham, the Minister of Social and Family Development, has made an announcement regarding the government’s plan to provide a MVR 100 million loan specifically for female entrepreneurs. This initiative aims to boost women’s empowerment and encourage their participation in the business sector.

At the opening event of the “Hiyala Weekend Market,” Dr. Shiham highlighted that one of President Dr. Mohamed Muizz’s promises was to create opportunities for women entrepreneurs, including providing space for them to sell homemade products at reasonable rents. The realization of this promise is seen as a significant motivator for businesswomen nationwide.

The Minister emphasized the broader impact of this initiative, stating, “This not only benefits women but also their families and the community as a whole. It’s a step towards the progress of the society, leading to a brighter future and overall satisfaction.”

Dr. Shiham mentioned that happiness and dignity in life are closely tied to women’s contentment, citing international studies that show the positive impact of a content woman on her family’s well-being.

The government, she affirmed, is committed to women’s empowerment. She announced the imminent issuance of the MVR 100 million loans tailored for women and revealed plans for additional financial support for small local businesses.

“The President is set to fulfill two key promises ensuring a satisfied and dignified life. Thus, the specialized MVR 100 million loans for women will be available shortly,” Dr. Shiham assured.

She urged women to seize this opportunity fully.

The Hiyala Weekend Market, located in the Hulhumale’ Phase 1 container park area, operates every weekend from 1600hrs to 2300hrs. It serves as a vibrant space for entrepreneurs to showcase and sell their unique creations, including food, crafts, jewelry, and art.
