The National Drug Agency (NDA) is seeking interest from private companies to manage drug rehabilitation facilities in the Maldives. This call for proposals was announced on Monday by the NDA.
The NDA outlined several requirements for these drug rehabilitation centers, including outpatient detoxification services, psychiatric evaluations, counselling, psycho-social therapy, drug testing, and physiological assessments.
Interested parties are requested to submit their registration forms by 1:00 pm on January 21. The NDA emphasized that proposals submitted post-deadline or from unregistered entities would not be considered.
Additionally, the NDA has scheduled an informational session at 10:00 am on Wednesday. The presentation and review of the proposals will then take place on January 22.
Up until now, drug rehabilitation centers in the Maldives have been exclusively managed by the government. However, in a significant policy shift on January 2, the government opened the opportunity for private, both local and international, contractors to operate these centers.
